African Comic Conventions (ACC) has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Wise Acre Comics, a renowned US-based independent publisher, to expand the distribution of diverse comic books across Africa. This collaboration is set to bring a wide range of genres—including superhero adventures, science fiction, and fantasy—to Nigerian and African audiences, featuring strong Black and Brown lead characters.
The founder of ACC, Ayodele Elegba, who also established Lagos Comic Con 13 years ago, expressed excitement over the milestone, calling it a realization of a long-held vision. “I’m so proud to see this day finally arrive! The plan was to create a platform that would bring the world of comics to Africa, and now, we’re seeing that dream become a reality,” he said.

This partnership is expected to enhance representation, diversity, and inclusivity in the comic book industry by introducing African readers to a broader array of characters and narratives. The deal follows years of dedicated efforts to build a thriving geek culture community in Nigeria and beyond.
With over 7,000 fans already expressing interest through Lagos Comic Con, ACC plans to distribute Wise Acre Comics’ titles through its Geek Shop platform (www.africancomicconventions.com). The ACC founder also hinted at another major deal in the works. “I just closed another deal this morning that will make printing comic books easier and get them into the hands of readers,” he revealed.
He encouraged publishers looking to distribute their comics in Nigeria to reach out for partnership opportunities. “This is more than just a partnership; it’s a game-changer. We’re not just expanding our reach; we’re creating a movement,” Elegba emphasized.
