Celebrating 365 Days Spotlighting the African Comics and Animation Space: Note from the Founder
I remember vividly that it was during the first Geek Pop-Up event that I decided to pull out my Infinix phone to finally actively work towards the vision I had for TheACE. I started taking videos and photos, and recording the panel sessions, just right after I got verbal permission from the Programs Manager.
The event was held in June 2024, but I only mustered the strength to transcribe the recordings, edit them, find a perfect angle to tell the story and design a catchy social media banner for it in July 2024. Before then, I had only gotten the motivation to work towards a dedicated media for the comic book and animation space in Africa, but procrastination almost never made me do anything tangible.

In my defense, I had gone ahead to start with the business registration process first, then created the visual Identity. I then took my time to find a unifying handle on all the social media platforms I know that exist, just to make sure the branding is consistent. And then I completed the process of building a digital media by creating a website using Framer's free website-building platform. These all took me three months from March 2024 at Comic Con Ibadan, when I got the idea.
Brick by brick, one publication at a time, it all started making sense. Trust was gradually built, knowledge gradually gathered, the network expanded, accolades won, and the talents and works successfully spotlighted as intended. It's 365 days later, and the journey continues.
