Geeks are scattered across the country, and few events foster a sense of community like Lagos Comic Con (LCC). LCC serves creatives, studios, and stakeholders in the comic book, animation, and gaming industries. Over the years, it has evolved into one of the largest geek events on the African continent, and arguably the biggest in Nigeria. The latest edition was held this past weekend at the Landmark Event Centre, and here is a quick breakdown of the event by the numbers.
7,000+
A total of 7,000 attendees (or more), comprising regulars, VIPs, exhibitors, and speakers, graced the event, which took place on Saturday, 14th September at the Landmark Event Centre. This marks a significant increase compared to the previous year, which saw just over 3,000 attendees—nearly a 200% surge. Crunching the numbers, the event also had a compound effect, reaching millions across the continent and globally.
40+
More than 40 speakers participated in 17 panel sessions. Industry veterans such as Morak Oguntade, Comic Republic’s Jide Martin, Zebra Comics’ Ejob Nathanael, Mount Zion’s Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, Vortex’s Somto Ajuluchukwu, ICS’s Ibrahim Ganiyu, Kugali’s Toluwalakin Olowofoyeku, Simone’s Oasis’ Tonye Faloughi-Ekezie, and Radioxity Media’s Esther Kemi Gbadamosi were among the key speakers. Topics ranged from inclusivity and diversity in African comics to the Francophone animation market, financial strategies, and stress management, to name a few.
20+
The event saw sponsorship and partnerships with over 20 brands, including TheACE, Ambassade De France Au Nigeria, Spoof Animations, Iyanu, Comic Panel Magazine, Comic Republic Media, Toon Boom, Abbie Studio, Lion Forge Entertainment, SOS Children’s Village, ArtGodWinKing, Game Zone, SquidMag, Standish913dotcom, Minimie, and Africa Comicade, among others.
In addition, there were over 20 exhibitors, such as Deepee Comics, Masked Collections, Halo Comics, Radioxity Media, CorksPro, Feebi Jewelry, Ades Anime, Comican Arts, Mary Gold, Magic Lab Academy, Edstarts Cuisine, My Otaku Store, Hanah Facials, Amezcua, G Millennium Comics, Symphonii, Animation Apostles, Brown Roof Studios, Narrative Landscape Press, Dexter, Art By Lash, J Empire Studio, Vortex Africa, and Majestic Comics.

Our media partnership with Lagos Comic Con 2024 marks the first major milestone for us as a digital media brand. Having launched less than three months ago, securing LCC’s trust in our vision was a significant achievement. But we weren’t the only ones making our debut. Studios like Deepee Comics also took advantage of the platform LCC provided to showcase their work to the world.
We are truly grateful to LCC for offering us the opportunity to move one step closer to achieving our mission. Stay tuned for more in-depth reports on the event, and here’s to many more successes ahead!
