Zebra Comics Plc, a leading Cameroonian digital comic brand, has announced the global expansion of its Creator Spotlight Programme, an initiative first launched in 2024 to support independent comic creators and publishers. The programme, according to a statement CEO Ejob Nathanael, aims to equip artists with the tools and opportunities needed to showcase their work, build sustainable careers, and monitor their progress through real-time analytics.
Since its inception nearly two years ago with the launch of the Zebra Comics app, the company has prioritised consistency and quality, releasing new episodes weekly—and at times, daily. This approach, driven by a dedicated in-house creative team and a network of independent collaborators, has reportedly achieved a 70% monthly user retention rate and attracted over 100,000 regular users.

With the expansion of the Creator Spotlight Program, Zebra Comics is opening its platform to independent creators worldwide, particularly African comic artists. Participants will gain access to a range of benefits, including the ability to share their stories with a growing and engaged audience, earn income through multiple monetisation models, and utilise real-time analytics to track views, sales, and engagement. Additionally, creators will benefit from a seamless payment system, enabling them to withdraw their earnings with ease.
In addition to individual artists, publishers will also have access to the platform, enabling them to distribute their content more effectively and expand their market reach.
Looking ahead, Zebra Comics plans to diversify its offerings later this year by integrating anime and web novels into the platform. This strategic move is expected to create even more opportunities for digital storytellers across various mediums. To support this expansion, the company has already partnered with over 100 African creators, laying a solid foundation for future growth.
The Creator Spotlight Program represents a major milestone in Zebra Comics’ mission to elevate African storytelling within the global digital entertainment landscape. By empowering creators and publishers with monetization tools and audience insights, the initiative is set to foster a more inclusive and financially viable ecosystem for comic artists worldwide.
